Problem
There is no way for divers to predict the visibility of the ocean before diving. This leads to divers swimming in potentially dangerous conditions. New divers underestimating these risks can lead to life-threatening situations.
To solve this, I designed an app within a 2 week deadline for divers to report the visibility of their dive so others can be informed of the conditions before going.
The visibility of the ocean is incredibly hard to predict.

Divers rely heavily on this visibility. Waiting to see the visibility of the water in person frequently wastes time and energy on dives with terrible conditions.

Client Interview
With such little time to design, I had to rely on my client to be the expert on our users.
At first, my client started suggesting features such as having the ability to plan a dive trip. I had to redirect their focus to the user and who their app is intended for.

User Highlights
User Profile
Our users are primarily amateur divers who highly value the environment and prioritize the safety of their dive group. They enjoy diving in good conditions and seek tools that make it easier to assess those conditions. With a focus on preserving nature, our users aim to dive responsibly, ensuring their activities don't harm the ecosystems they explore.

Design Goals & Pain Points
The design focuses on three primary goals: delivering clear explanations of diving data, providing fast and accurate condition updates, and building a community to support dive buddy connections. Users often struggle with interpreting condition data, dealing with poor visibility, and relying on inaccurate information, which can lead to unsafe dives. By resolving these issues, we aim to create a reliable, easy-to-use platform that enhances safety and enjoyment for all divers.

User Flows
Creating user flows allowed me to conceptualize every step a user needs to take to complete their task. I wanted to consolidate the necessary steps for the best user experience.

Visualizing Findings & Storyboarding
Through a 5-minute exercise, I wrote out my research to visualize significant findings. I then illustrated how users would interact with my app through a storyboard.
Competitive Analysis
Through a competitive analysis I found that Magicseaweed provides their users with information on conditions before they go surfing. Coincidentally, this app is also used by divers who reportedly love seeing all of the conditions within one app.

Wireframes
Starting with sketches, I started designing the screens based on the user stories.I submitted the low-fidelity wireframes to the client for feedback and made adjustments to the screens accordingly.

Final Designs
After completing usability tests on low fidelity prototypes, I moved into the visual design creating a moodboard and high fidelity frames.
